EIM maintains its good results as authorized exam center for the Cambridge English certificates
The School of Modern Languages (EIM) of the University of Barcelona keeps its good results as an exam center for the Cambridge English Language Assessment certificates, department of English evaluation of the University of Cambridge. Since its first call in 2016, more than 500 students have joined, with an average 77 % of passed exams. More than a hundred of those had previously carried out preparatory courses EIM offers. Data shows a 84 % of students that took the preparatory courses up in EIM obtained the First Certificate in English (FCE), about 20 % more than the rest in Spain, where the average of passed certificates is around 66 %. Regarding the exams to get the Certificate in Advanced English (CAE), EIM figures of success rise up to 79 % while the average in the rest of Spain is 70 %.

The upcoming calls for the official exams (First, Advanced and Proficiency certificates) will take place on June and July, and the registration period will be open until late April for the exams to be held in June, and during June for those taken in July.
Exam preparation courses
The School of Modern Languages offers several preparation courses to take these exams. These courses can be annual (from October to May) or semester-long courses (from October to December and from February to May).
Since 2016, EIM is the official authorized center to evaluate the candidates of the University of Barcelona who wish to get the Cambridge English certificates. These exams, prepared by the University of Cambrdige, follow a strict protocol. They assess the main language skills -oral and written comprehension and writing- and assess the communicative skills in English in real situations. More than 2,000 worldwide institutions (universities, companies, official bodies) accept the Cambridge English certificates as proof of English language skills.
Having English language skills favours the access to higher education and increases work opportunities. Also, graduate students who leave to study or work abroad can prove their English skills without problem since these certificates are accepted worldwide.
