The program for Els Juliols 2018 offers a hundred courses, and this year, twenty of them are aimed at a professional audience and are short-length courses: 16, 12 and 8 hour-courses. The 22nd edition of the summer courses of the University of Barcelona will take place from July 2 to 20 and lessons can be taken in the morning or the afternoon.

The offering is organized into ten theme areas that range from Arts, music and cinema to Technology and energy, going through Economics and business, Philosophy, and Natural and environmental sciences. Also, some of this yearʼs courses are grouped within specific themes such as Emprenedoria: molt més que una empresa, Estat: revolució i repressió, and Maig del 68: imaginació, utopia i poder.

This year the UB offers new courses, which cover relevant and current affairs in many areas of knowledge, as well as those courses that were successful in previous editions, which is the case, for instance, of de Les novetats de la normativa catalana, Les plantes i la salut, Mindfulness i qualitat de vida i Passejant per Barcelona, among others.
Most of the courses in Els Juliols take place in the Historical Building of the University of Barcelona. The others, depending on their features, are taught in Cornellà de Llobregat, lʼHospitalet, Terrassa, Sant Joan Despí, Vilafranca del Penedès, Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Montmeló and Viladecans.

Open registration

Registrations are open, and 20-hour courses offer a reduced price for those registrations that are submitted before May 31. Also, the UB collective and others (such as La Vanguardia and Núvol subscribers) can use a special discount in any of the courses until the last day of the registration period. In addition, students can validate two academic credits for each 20-hour course they take up.

Economic aids

The University of Barcelona has a call for thirty grants to take a 20-hour course in the 2018 edition of Els Juliols, thanks to the collaboration with the company ACCIONA. The grants are aimed at students of bachelor and master degrees, of PhD students who are registered at the University of Barcelona during the academic year 2017-2018, and the discount accounts for a 74,50 euro reduction of the registration fees. To access it, students have to follow the below-mentioned steps, between April 16 and June 4:

•    Register for the course in person or online, paying for the course as a collective with the Comunitat UB discount (149 euros).
•    Applying for the economic aid online in the electronic office of the University of Barcelona or sending an email to the grant service: beca.colaboracio@ub.edu .
•    Printing the application and the other documents that are required in the conditions of the call and handing it in in any Registration Office of the UB.

Once the results are published, applicants will receive them on a text message.
