A Crue meeting at the UB will agree on a joint contribution of Spanish universities to the United Nations 2030 Agenda
The UB will hold on May 16, a work meeting for Crue Universidades Españolas, in which they will agree on a joint contribution of the universities to the Plan Action document launched by Spain in order to work in the framework of the UN 2030 Agenda for the Sustainable Development. This is a first Action Plan for 2018-2020, which aims to promote specific key aspects and set bases for the second and definite period of 2020-2030.

The meeting will be opened by the rector of the UB, Joan Elias, who is also the president of Crue - Internationalization and Cooperation, together with others such as Santiago García-Granada, rector of the University of Oviedo and president of Crue-Sustainability. The meeting, to be held in the Paranimph of the UB, will offer several speeches to contextualize the 2030 Agenda, the Spanish Action Plan 2018-2020 and to set the contribution of the universities to this plan.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development has several objectives, among which is peace, releasing humanity from poverty, make all peopleʼs human rights a reality and reach gender equality. The Spanish Government agreed on the constitution of a High Level Group with the aim of coordinating all necessary actions to fulfil the objectives of the Agenda 2030. One of the first decisions was to create the Action Plan which will include the contribution to be agreed on by the Crue in the meeting to be held tomorrow at the UB. In particular, the positioning of the universities will be included in the eighth section of the Action Plan, titled “Una alianza de todos los actores”.
