The research project Human rights: fiction or reality? Refugeesʼ right to education, by the student Elena Musa, from Institut Santa Eulàlia (Hospitalet de Llobregat), won the thirteenth edition of the Research Award for Peace, aimed at high school students, held yearly by the University of Barcelona, promoted by Solidaritat UB Foundation and the Institute of Education Sciences (ICE), supported by Global Justice and International Cooperation of the Barcelona City Council. The jury, formed by teaching staff of the University, gave the award to this research, based on the field observation, where the student compares the situation of a right to education between two refugee communities in Jordan: Palestine population in Al Baqaʼa camp and Syrian population in Al Zaatari camp. According to the jury, “the study outstands due the studentʼs ability to choose a specific object of study and focus her work on a delimited context”, as well as the good structure and scientific rigour of the research and the coherence of the theoretical frame with the analytical criteria she used afterwards.
