The Institute of Mathematics is devoted to advanced research and training in any field of pure and applied mathematics.

The aims of the institute are to:

  • develop and support research into mathematics, through the organization of advanced scientific activities, including courses, workshops, conferences and seminars;
  • promote interdisciplinary work among researchers from different fields of mathematics.

The main fields of IMUB’s activity are commutative algebra, analysis, stochastic calculus, statistics, algebraic geometry, differential geometry, mathematical logic, dynamical systems, number theory and topology.
