The University of Barcelona’s Observatory on Mediation (ODM) was endorsed by the UB Governing Council on 15 September 2008, in accordance with the provisions of the UB Regulations on Observatories and Documentation Centres, which were approved by the UB Governing Council on 6 July 2006.

The aim of this Observatory is to research, develop and innovate in the fields of conflict management systems, mediation and the construction of areas for peace in organizations.

One of the Observatory’s priorities is the "Health Project": an intervention system for preventing, managing and dealing with disputes in health organizations. The Catalan government’s (Generalitat de Catalunya) Ministry of Health collaborates actively with the ODM and is committed to its work, particularly in relation to this project, which involves the provision of mediation services for groups and individuals that work in or are associated with the Catalan heath system.
