Companies and institutions
La UB offers the business sector a series of mechanisms to facilitate the transfer of knowledge generated by research and a team of experts acting as interlocutors in the negotiation of licenses and the contracting and creation of agreements. To promote new collaborative structures, the University also helps create mixed research units and provides hosting services for newly-created companies using the customized spaces of the UB Group's Bioincubator, located in the Barcelona Science Park.
Contracts between the University and client companies and institutions: research projects and services
One of the objectives of the University of Barcelona is to help the public and private sectors to improve competitiveness in a globalized context by supporting research projects and services providing consultancy and analysis between the UB and client companies and institutions.
Types of UB projects and services
- Contract research projects
For these projects, companies or institutions subcontract UB research groups for a previously established fee and period of time and receive the project results that have been agreed upon without actually participating in the project work itself.
- Collaborative research projects
In these projects, both the company and the UB researchers involved work together to reach certain outcomes using a specific new technology. The nature of these projects is generally precompetitive and the projects themselves are usually financed by government agencies.
- Consultancy and analysis service
This service is offered in three ways:
technological, financial and legal consultancy for companies and for research groups at the University of Barcelona;
consultancy for companies and research groups seeking public finance for technological innovation;
scientific and technical analysis for companies.
