The university then and now
After the dictatorship, the transition to democracy is slow and full of contradictions. The university takes more than thirty-five years to regain the scientific standing, prestige, and international projection it had reached before the Civil War.
Today, the Universitat de Barcelona brings together more than 70,000 members of the university community across 17 faculties and around ten affiliated centers, along with structures such as the Parc Científic de Barcelona. It is the leading university in our country and a national benchmark in the main international rankings
