Photography Contest Rules: “UB in 575 Images”

Which photograph best summarizes your connection to the University of Barcelona? A space you love, a shared moment, a detail that only you can see? The UB invites its entire community to participate in the “The UB in 575 Images” contest, an initiative that aims to create a large collective album to mark the institution's 575th anniversary. And it does so with an irresistible incentive: a Sony ZV-E10 II digital camera with a 16-50mm II lens, a prize specially designed for content creators and courtesy of Casanova Foto.

Participating in the contest is very simple. Just post photos on Instagram with the hashtag #LaMevaUB, mention @unibarcelona, and keep your profile public for the duration of the contest. The images should show what it means for each participant to be part of the UB: university life, iconic spaces, people, or details that explain this special connection. A committee composed of an academic official and three professional photographers will select the best images, and the 575 selected photos will be part of an exhibition in June and July 2026.

Rules

1. Description and Objective of the Call

The initiative “The UB in 575 images” is part of the activities organized to mark the 575th anniversary of the University of Barcelona and aims to create an album of 575 photographs. The album will be built collaboratively, based on contributions from the university community, in order to strengthen the feeling of belonging to the University.

2. Requirements and conditions of participation

• To participate in this activity, the photographs must be published on the Instagram channel or feed of the participants with the hashtag #LaMevaUB and mentioning the @unibarcelona profile.
• The profiles that publish photographs must follow @unibarcelona. In addition, they must be public for the duration of this action, so that @unibarcelona can see and follow the content about #LaMevaUB.
• You can publish as many photographs as you want. The images must reflect what the University of Barcelona means to each person. The images can portray university life, spaces, people or details that challenge the UB community. The style is free.
• The texts that accompany the images in the publications cannot exceed 130 characters with spaces.
• Participants must be part of the UB community, or have been part of it in the past, as staff or as students. Therefore, students and former undergraduate, master's or doctoral students, PTGAS and PDI, members of the Ateneu UB and Alumni UB, affiliated centers and the UB Group can participate.
• Photographs that threaten the safety of people or that may generate a risk for someone, that threaten the dignity or rights of people, that promote hatred or violence, that are discriminatory for any reason or that include personal disqualifications, insults or defamatory or unfounded comments that affect the public image of the University will not be accepted, in any case. The University reserves the right not to admit and, therefore, not to publish or exhibit images that violate these rules, as well as to report people who do not respect them.
• Likewise, participation implies acceptance of image rights and consent to the publication of the photographs on the UB's communication channels (575th anniversary website, institutional website, institutional social networks, intranets and institutional newsletters), and to their public exhibition by the UB.

3. Deadlines

You can participate from March 23, 2026 to May 31, 2026. Once the photographs have been reviewed and validated by the UB Communication technicians, they will be published on the 575th anniversary website along with the username, and during the months of June and July 2026 an exhibition with the 575 images will be held.

Users expressly accept the content of these rules by sending the photographs, as well as accepting the publication and exhibition of the photographs by the University in its institutional events or its communication channels and social networks.

4. Awards

Once the publication deadline has passed, a committee of experts will decide which are the three winning photographs. The committee will be made up of an academic officer from the University of Barcelona and three professional photographers. The selection of the finalist images will be based on professional criteria (composition, lighting, originality, technique).

• The expert committee will also decide who the three alternates are, in case the winners do not accept the prize.
• The first prize, courtesy of Casanova Foto, will receive a Sony ZV-E10 II digital camera with the 16-50mm II lens, designed especially for content creators. The second and third prizes will receive a set of merchandise from the 575th anniversary of the UB.
• The contest verdict will be communicated to the winners on Monday, June 1, 2026.
• The winners have a maximum of 3 calendar days to accept the prize. If they do not respond within this period, the prize will be passed on to the alternate.
• After these 72 hours, the usernames of the winners will be published on the 575 website, on the news portal of the ub.edu website, on the Instagram account @unibarcelona and on other communication channels that are considered appropriate (such as the La UB al dia newsletter, the Student Portal or on the intranet, as well as on the Bluesky, Facebook or LinkedIn social networks).
• The awards will be presented in person on the day agreed upon with the winners and photographs and/or videos will be taken for the University's social networks and other communication channels that are considered appropriate (such as the La UB al dia newsletter, the institutional website, the Student Portal or on the intranet, as well as the Bluesky, Facebook and LinkedIn networks).

5. Data protection

The person responsible for the processing of personal data is the General Secretariat of the University of Barcelona, ​​with postal address Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, 585, 08007 Barcelona and email address secretaria.general@ub.edu.

• The purpose of the processing of personal data is to manage the collection of photographs, including their promotion and awarding of the prize.
• The legal basis is the fulfillment of a mission carried out in the public interest (Law 1/2003, of February 19, on universities in Catalonia; Organic Law 2/2023, of March 22, on the university system and Law 38/2003, of November 17, General on Subsidies).
• Your data will be processed for the time necessary to fulfill the purpose for which they were collected and to determine the possible responsibilities that could arise from said purpose and from the processing of the data.
• All photographs submitted will be disseminated in the media provided for in these rules. Likewise, the username of the person who won the prize may be published on the website and social networks indicated in these rules.
• No other transfer of data is contemplated, unless it is a legal obligation. In this case, only the necessary data will be sent.
• You can access the data, request its rectification, deletion, opposition or limitation, by writing to the General Secretariat of the University of Barcelona (Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, 585, 08007 Barcelona), or by sending an email to the address secretaria.general@ub.edu. You must attach a photocopy of your ID card or another valid document that identifies you.
• If you consider that your rights have not been adequately met, you can notify the UB Data Protection Officer: protecciodedades@ub.edu or Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, 585, 08007 Barcelona.
• You also have the right to file a complaint with the Catalan Data Protection Authority.
• By participating in the action “The UB in 575 images” according to the conduct indicated in these bases, the interested party declares to have read this right to information and, in the event that they provide personal data of third parties, they undertake to provide them with the content of this base.
