What do Women Mean?

Documentary / Event
Filmin / Escola Europea d'Humanitats

The documentary ¿Qué quieren decir las mujeres? (2021) is now available on filmin. What do women mean when they talk about violence, pain, loss and the betrayal of the body? What is noir literature like when written by wmen? How have women experienced the 2008 crisis and the ongoing pandemic? How have they survived? Which victories and which wounds do they carry? What do they laugh at? Is there such a thing as female humour? This documentary sums up the 6-hour meeting “¿Qué quieren decir las mujeres?”, directed by Elena Losada (ADHUC-Universitat de Barcelona) and Josep Ramoneda (Escola Europea d'Humanitats), which took place in April 2021 in Palau Macaya de la Fundació “la Caixa”, in Barcelona. Writers, humourists, health experts and gender studies specialists debate about women's voice, desire, specific forms of pain and relationship with reality. Participants include Josefina Goberna (ADHUC-Universitat de Barcelona), Elena Carreras (Hospital Universitari de la Vall d'Hebron); writers Cristina Fallaràs, Isabel Franc, Empar Fernàndez, and Montse Sanjuan, as well as clown and teacher Merche Ochoa. Videos of their interventions are also available on the Escola Europea d'Humanitats website.
