Legal pleadings and minor printed materials in vernacular languages ​​in the modern world: Legal knowledge and its printed communication in an interdisciplinary perspective

This workshop aims to promote, through a transdisciplinary approach, the study of minor legal materials in vernacular languages from the 16th to the 19th century, fostering dialogue and a diversity of approaches and methods from the disciplines of law, history, bibliographic studies, and bibliology. Minor legal prints are among the least-researched primary sources, with great potential for insights across a wide range of perspectives: law, culture, society, politics, gender, and heritage.

This meeting promotes sharing methodologies for the study of minor legal prints. A cross-disciplinary approach that allows, on the one hand, for the development of analytical models for the classification, interpretation, and contextualization of legal texts. Furthermore, it enables the development of approaches that combine legal analysis with the history of the book and of printed communication. This impact translates into a better understanding of the circulation of legal knowledge in multilingual contexts, thereby contributing to the visibility of local legal practices and the appreciation of bibliographic heritage in vernacular languages.
