To mark the 150th anniversary of the publication of Cantares gallegos, two activities have been organized in Barcelona: a seminar, which will take place on 8 November, and on 15 November an institutional act, more details on which will be available shortly. The seminar "Raó, bogeria, lloc. La política de les emocions en Rosalía de Castro" will open with the lecture "El lugar del loco y el lugar de la nación" by Fernando Cabo (Universidade de Santiago de Compostela) and will be followed by two sessions of debate with Rodrigo Andrés, Isabel Clúa and Joana Sabadell (Hamilton College), researchers of the Centre Dona i Literatura, as well as Alba del Pozo (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona). These debates propose innovative considerations of the work of Rosalía de Castro, including a reading from North American cultural materialism, romantic fiction, and El primer loco. Rosario Álvarez Blanco, vicepresident of the Consello da Cultura Galega will preside, along with the seminar's coordinators: Helena González Fernández (director of the Centre Dona i Literatura), María Xesús Lama (Universitat de Barcelona) and María do Cebreiro Rábade (Universidade de Santiago de Compostela). Registration is free and can be done prior to 6 November 2013 using the contact form or by email to cdona@ub.edu.
