Dr. Limame BARBOUCHI holds a PhD degree in Cultural Studies from Mohamed Premier University in Oujda. He currently works as a full professor of English Language and Literature at Ibn Zohr University in Agadir. He also currently teaches Medical English at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Laayoune. 

He has authored, co-authored, and co-edited articles and book chapters about topics related to colonial and postcolonial discourse and literature. He is the author of the book Beyond the Crisis of the Arab Literary Criticism: Towards an Arab Post-colonial Criticism (Published online in 2015). 

Since 2015, he has shifted his research interests towards an emerging research arena: Desert, Spatial Studies, and Medical Humanities. His shifting research interests include Medical Literature, Nomadism, Desert Literature, and the Spatial Turn in Literary Theory. 

He has participated in the 6th Oxford Interdisciplinary Desert Conference in Oxford, UK. He also delivered a presentation, titled “Curating Desert Cultures in Morocco and Mauritania: Assessment of Governmental & Civil Society Efforts to preserve the Arabo- Afro-Amazigh (Hassani) desert artifacts and tangible heritage” at the international conference on Anthropology & Education organized on June 25– 28, 2024, by the Royal Anthropological Institute at the University of London, UK. His last paper presentations include: “Bearing witness to suffering: The Public Role of the Medical Literary Intellectual” a presentation at the internaltional conference on “The Intellectual in the 21st Century: Agency, Ethics, and the Ever-changing Global Dynamics” held at the Faculty of Letters and Humanities in Agadir on April 1-2, 2026; and a talk, titled “Cultural Perceptions of Chronic and Mental Diseases in North Africa: Medical Perspectives from Laayoune” at the Permanent Seminar held by the African Studies Center at La Laguna University in Tenerife on April 23rd, 2026.
