Video on the acoustic research undertaken in the Cañón de Santa Teresa (Baja California Sur, Mexico)

Are there areas in archaeological research that are not normally considered such as acoustics and music but should be? In this video, ICREA Research Professor Margarita Díaz-Andreu, Principal Investigator of the Artsoundscapes ERC Project, explains that by not paying attention to acoustics and by not studying the importance of sound in the landscape, archaeologists are missing an important aspect of the cultural life of past communities. Filmed during the lockdown decreed by the Spanish government due to the Covid-19 pandemic in April 2020, the video presents the acoustics research undertaken in the rock art area of the Cañón de Santa Teresa (Baja California Sur, Mexico) in 2018, before the Artsoundscapes project had begun.
