Thanks to the invitation of Prof. Wang Lihong, the results of the Artsoundscapes project were presented and taught as part of the course \u201cThe Archaeology of Prehistoric Art and Music\u201d, held from 15-26 June at the Xi\u2019an Academy of Fine Arts (Xi\u2019an, China).<\/p>\n
The course introduced students to the project’s interdisciplinary approach, combining archaeology, art history, music archaeology, and digital technologies to investigate the sensory and cultural dimensions of prehistoric artistic expression. Through lectures, discussions, and case studies, participants explored how the Artsoundscapes project contributes to a deeper understanding of the relationship between visual culture, sound, and human experience in prehistory.<\/p>\n
The course also promoted international academic exchange, fostering dialogue between European and Chinese perspectives on prehistoric art, music, and archaeological research.<\/p>\n

The traditional Science Fair [Festa de la Ci\u00e8ncia] of the University of Barcelona was virtual this year, as many other events during the lockdown imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Researchers from different faculties were asked to produce short films about the workshops they would have given under normal circumstances, and their videos were then uploaded to YouTube. The Artsoundscapes project took the challenge and team members Ana Mar\u00eda Alarc\u00f3n-Jim\u00e9nez, Mathieu Picas and Laura Coltofean created the video below in which they propose a voyage to prehistory [Viaje sonoro a la prehistoria] through the means of sound by showing viewers how to make a \u201cchasca de nuez\u201d, a nutshell prehistoric percussion instrument.
