ABSTRACT:<\/strong>The Teotihuacan Sound Mapping Project explores the role that sound and music played in the urban environment of the\u00a0archaeological UNESCO World Heritage\u00a0site, situated in the Central Highlands of Mexico.\u00a0The sound tools and\u00a0musical instruments of Teotihuacanare\u00a0studied,\u00a0recreated\u00a0and played in different\u00a0architectural settings of the site. Subsequently,\u00a0the instrumental and architectural acoustics\u00a0are analyzed.3D models of the instruments are given to composers and musicians in order to create individual sound images of the site. Finally, with\u00a0the aid of geo-referenced sound mapping and multimedia applications,\u00a0a virtual sound-map\u00a0of the\u00a0siteand a\u00a0soundwalk\u00a0event for the visitors\u00a0is being\u00a0created.This lecture will give an introduction into the diverse activities related with the project and sum up the\u00a0current state of research.<\/p>\n
