Marc Deosdad – Thesis defense

Marc completed a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the Universitat de Barcelona in 2018 and a Professional Music Degree at the Centre Professional del Conservatori del Liceu in 2017. Afterwards, he continued his research career by pursuing a Master’s degree in Research in Behavior and Cognition at the University of Barcelona. After winning the Beca Pont Màster-Doctorat fellowship from the Institute of Neuroscience of the University of Barcelona (UB), he pursued his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Josep Marco-Pallarés with an FPU fellowship.

His thesis aimed to understand how predictability mechanisms, which are crucial for musical rhythm perception, affect its production and the motor control mechanisms that allow us to play music.

The research questions required the use of brain-imaging techniques such as EEG and fMRI. Additionally, he completed a research internship at Concordia University.

Marc will defend his thesis in October as part of the Doctoral Programme in Cervell, Cognició i Conducta at the Universitat de Barcelona.
