Localización de la inversión extranjera en innovación. España frente a las economías emergentes

In a global scenario where multinational firms disaggregate their value chain emerge the goal of this paper, which is identifying the main factors that determine the geographical location of the innovation activities. Based on case studies of subsidiaries with R&D Centers located in Spain we identify the main factors determining the international location and also to assess the competitive position of Spain regarding emerging economies. Results show that some factors, such as the intellectual property protection or the researchers qualityprice, benefit Spain but some others, such as the innovation taxation system or the scientific-business gap, need to be address to increase its competitive position.
