Ramon received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Barcelona in 2019, where he studied Chemistry. Then, he got his Master’s degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology from the same university in 2021. In February 2021, he gets a Ph.D. position under the supervision of Josep Puigmartí and Jordi Ignes.

Colloidal science has been the main field he has been working in. His approach was his Bachelor’s degree thesis completed at the Colloidal and Interfacial Chemistry group that belongs to the CSIC. This work was focused on the formulation of emulsions to encapsulate chromonic liquid crystals in a liquid medium. In an internship at the SOC&SAM group, he got the opportunity to work with microfluidic devices and collaborate in a published article titled Stable and metastable patterns in chromonic nematic liquid crystal droplets forced with static and dynamic magnetic fields. For his Master’s thesis, under the supervision of Jordi Ignés Mullol and Francesc Sagués Mestre, he studied the transport of colloidal particles in anisotropic fluids.

His doctoral research interest includes the research and development of microfluidic devices capable of mimicking blood vessels and the colloidal transport with medical applications. Moreover, the propulsion and assemblies of colloidal dispersion in liquid crystals are other topics he works in.
