El ciment aluminós s’ ha de utilitzar en climes freds (T&lt;30ºC) ja que temperatures elevades donen lloc a una reacció II’ amb formació de 3CaO·Al<sub>2​</sub>O<sub>3</sub>·6 H<sub>2</sub>O i una major producció de Al(OH)<sub>3</sub>, que provoca un augment de volum amb generació fissures que indueixen a la corrosió. L’aluminosi és una greu patologia dels edificis que utilitzaren aquest tipus de ciment de ràpid enduriment i elevada resistència inicial però poc resistent a la corrosió. La seva vida útil és d’uns 50 anys però es fàcilment alterable en medis humits. Molt utilitzat per formigó durant els anys 50 ja que permet una fabricació ràpida i la immediata col·locació en obra d’altres elements. El ciment d’aluminat de calci resulta molt adequat per: Formigó refractari, reparacions ràpides d’urgència de caràcter temporal. Pot ser utilitzat: Per obres i elements prefabricats de formigó no estructural i formigó projectat. Es inadequat: Formigó armat estructural, formigó en massa ó armat en grans volums, estabilització de sols.
