La pedra calcària, que conté principalment calcita CaCO<sub>3</sub>, és la matèria primera majoritaria, es barreja amb els altres components i es moltura. A continuació s'introdueix en cru al forn en el que assoliran una temperatura de 1500ºC i posteriorment es refredara ràpidament amb aire forçat i s'obté el clinker, compost quaternari de CaO, Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>, SiO<sub>2</sub> i FeO.
