Los componentes principales de la argila son los silicatos de aluminio hidratados (Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>·SiO<sub>2</sub>·H<sub>2</sub>O) con pequeñas cantidades de Fe<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>, MgO, CaO,Na<sub>2</sub>O i K<sub>2</sub>O</p> <p><strong>Productos : </strong>Las fases crsitalinas son: Hematite, quarzo, corindón, clinoenstatite,óxido de potasio. Para vitrificar la cerámica a menudo se añade feldespato de potasio (K<sub>2</sub>O·Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>.6SiO<sub>2</sub>) que funde a baja temperatura y se transforma en vidrio.</p>
