Bluephage has been chosen as the winner of the Senén Vilaró Award for the best innovative company of 2020 thanks to its disruptive and breakthrough technology developed to detect coliphages, a type of bacteriophage used as a viral indicator of the microbiological quality of water. The company was founded in 2016 by researchers Joan Jofre, Francisco Lucena and Anicet Blanch, from the Health-Related Water Microbiology Research Group (MARS) of the University of Barcelona, and Enric Queralt, an entrepreneur in the water sector.
