An initiative driven by the Vice-Rectorate for Research to strengthen biosafety in the UB Laboratories.

The Vice-Rectorate for Research at the University of Barcelona has launched a campaign to implement structural adaptations to Biological Containment Level 2 laboratories and research spaces.

This initiative, developed in close collaboration with the Office of Safety, Health and Environment, the Biosafety Committee, the Infrastructure and General Services Area, and some of the university’s faculties and centres, marks a turning point in the improvement of the facilities.

The main objective is to ensure, in an even more rigorous manner, compliance with current biosafety regulations and requirements relating to the facilities of laboratories where biological agents of group 2 are handled.

The planned actions not only strengthen security in the research spaces of the University of Barcelona, but also aim to significantly enhance quality, innovation and good practice in both research and teaching. This approach highlights the institution’s constant commitment to academic and scientific excellence, and thus its consolidation as a benchmark in the field of national and international research.
