On 27 June, the Biosafety Committee of the University of Barcelona (CBSUB) opened the virtual doors of its first website dedicated to biosafety. Through this platform, the university community will have access to a wide range of resources on the most relevant topics in biosafety.
The CBSUB, conscious of the growing importance of this field in research and teaching, has launched this initiative to provide a centralised information and training resource on the basic aspects of biosafety. The website also aims to be an information and working tool for academic and research staff, facilitating risk assessments for activities involving biological agents, the drafting of PNT and the notification of facilities and activities involving GMOs (and pathogenic biological agents) to the relevant authority, among other aspects related to the management of biological risk.
This initiative represents a significant step in the University of Barcelona’s efforts to promote the safety, health and well-being of its community, and aligns with CBSUB’s commitment to continuous improvement in the field of biosafety. With the launch of this web platform, the CBSUB aims to lay the foundations for establishing safety standards in scientific and academic practice throughout the University.
