Growing environmental awareness is prompting changes in household laundry habits, with a focus on reducing bleach and using lower temperatures during washing machine cycles. In this context, the use of disinfectants in detergents becomes essential to offset new habits and prevent the transmission of bacteria, fungi and viruses in the home, as well as to control the microorganisms responsible for odours in clothing. The research, led by Antoni Monle\u00f3n, a professor in the Department of Genetics, Microbiology and Statistics at the UB and a researcher in the Biost3 Research Group, has validated a new method for statistically assessing the antimicrobial efficacy of detergents and textile additives in domestic environments. These results have been presented to the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) with the proposal that they become the European standard in this field.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
