The aim of this seminar is twofold. The first is to show professionals the methodology of the UB\u2019s Socio-Sports Meetings so they can transfer it to their associations<\/strong> for the benefit of refugees and asylum seekers. The second is for these people to experience the benefits of Socio-Sports Meetings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This seminar is developed as part of the \u2018COMMUNITY\u2019 project<\/strong>, implemented by the University of Barcelona in collaboration with Fundaci\u00f3 Solidaritat UB and with funding from the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Both days of the seminar are the same and independent<\/strong> to facilitate attendance, so participants can attend Wednesday, 10 May or Saturday, 13 May, depending on their availability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n Professionals <\/strong>who work with refugees and asylum seekers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Refugees<\/strong>, asylum seekers or people in a similar situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Students <\/strong>who want to have a pragmatic learning experience while performing community service.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n <\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n Wednesday 10 May<\/strong> from 4 pm to 7 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Saturday 13 May <\/strong>from 10 am to 1 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Both days are the same. This model is based on experiential learning (\u201clearning by doing\u201d) through physical activity<\/strong> and aims to facilitate the social inclusion of people at risk of exclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Cooperative motor-skill games<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Through cooperative motor-skill games, participants improve their physical and psychological well-being<\/strong>, facilitating communication and promoting mutual knowledge between the host community and refugees or asylum seekers. Dialogue and coexistence are encouraged using teamwork as a common thread.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Service learning<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n This methodology is part of service learning, which is an educational practice that combines learning and service to the community<\/strong>. This practice helps to train the participants and turns them into agents of socialisation that promote the social inclusion of people at risk of exclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Though the seminar is practical in nature, it also has a part devoted to reflection in which keys to the implementation of socio-sports meetings are identified<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You can register<\/a> for one of these two days:<\/p>\n\n\n\n The seminar is held on two different days to facilitate attendance, but both are the same and independent.<\/strong> Therefore, the programme is the same for both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The first day is held on Wednesday, 10 May from 4 pm to 7 pm and the second is held on Saturday, 13 May from 10 am to 1 pm. Participants can register for one of the two days, depending on their availability, but not both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The seminar is held at the Mundet Campus of the University of Barcelona..<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n Reception and presentation of the training seminar: 15 minutes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The participants meet in the gymnasium of the Mundet Campus of the University of Barcelona, where the development of the seminar and its context are explained.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n <\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n Practical experimentation session: 90 minutes (1.5 h)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The physical activity begins. The sports education professional proposes different motor-skill games to the participants with cooperative and very fun objectives.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n <\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n Educational training session with education professionals from refugee centres: 45 minutes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n An educational session is then given, aimed at the staff of organisations that work with refugees and asylum seekers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n <\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n Snack: 30 minutes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Finally there is an informal picnic, where the participants can chat relaxedly and get to know each other better. The conversation is accompanied by food and drink. This is a very valuable moment because it develops the group\u2019s social skills.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n The training is accredited by the Institute of Professional Development \u2013 Institute of Education Sciences (IDP-ICE) of the University of Barcelona.
