La entidad, formada por veintiocho investigadores de renombre de diez pa\u00edses, se ha presentado oficialmente en la revista\u00a0<em>Journal of Huntington\u2019s Disease<\/em>.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Los objetivos principales de SC4HD son trabajar con la comunidad afectada por la enfermedad de Huntington para desarrollar criterios y gu\u00edas, y abordar los principales retos para implementar de forma r\u00e1pida y segura las terapias basadas en c\u00e9lulas madre a los pacientes con esta patolog\u00eda devastadora.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seg\u00fan explica Josep M.\u00aa Canals, director de Creatio y miembro del comit\u00e9 directivo de SC4HD, \u00ablas terapias basadas en c\u00e9lulas madre son una gran oportunidad para tratar la enfermedad de Huntington, un trastorno neurodegenerativo que afecta principalmente a las neuronas del n\u00facleo estriado del cerebro\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hasta ahora, muchas terapias celulares experimentales se han centrado en el n\u00facleo estriado con el fin de sustituir las neuronas que se han perdido durante el proceso de la enfermedad. De ese modo, se pretende reparar el circuito neuronal o aumentar la supervivencia de las neuronas restantes y de las c\u00e9lulas neuronales y gliales del n\u00facleo estriado. Los avances tecnol\u00f3gicos dirigidos a diferenciar las c\u00e9lulas madre hacia los tipos neuronales deseados abren nuevas estrategias para restaurar los circuitos neuronales da\u00f1ados en la enfermedad de Huntington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El consorcio SC4HD re\u00fane a expertos en biolog\u00eda de c\u00e9lulas madre, trasplante de c\u00e9lulas, producci\u00f3n de c\u00e9lulas de grado cl\u00ednico, neurocirug\u00eda, y evaluaci\u00f3n cl\u00ednica para una aplicaci\u00f3n cl\u00ednica segura de las terapias con c\u00e9lulas madre, ofreciendo la estandarizaci\u00f3n de protocolos y gu\u00edas completas que engloben todo el abanico de consideraciones terap\u00e9uticas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Participaci\u00f3n de la Universidad de Barcelona<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Josep M.\u00aa Canals es profesor del Departamento de Biomedicina de la Facultad de Medicina y Ciencias de la Salud de la UB y director del Centro para la Producci\u00f3n y Validaci\u00f3n de Terapias Avanzadas (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ub.edu\/creatio\/#!\/home\">Creatio<\/a>), el centro TECNIO para producir medicamentos de terapia avanzada en Catalu\u00f1a.
