Plural nouns 

In English, plural nouns behave just like singular ones: only those which are gender-specific in the singular are likewise marked in the plural.

Exemple correcte Graduates should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the ceremony.

Exemple correcte Chairwomen Vázquez and Puig will offer a short press conference.


When describing mixed-sex groups, use inclusive expressions where possible. In the examples below, chairmen and mankind have been avoided.

Exemple correcte Mr Ferrer and Ms Vázquez served as chairpersons at the meeting.

Exemple correcte In the last 20 years humankind has made more scientific progress than in the previous century.
