On March 5, the 1 st Conference on Communication and Mental Health: “Youth, internet and screens” was held, an event organized by the Faculty of Information and Audiovisual Media, the DHIGECS-COM research group, the CBCD research group and the CRICC. The conference brought together leading experts to discuss the impact of screens on the mental health of young people and their relationship with the digital environment.
Round table with experts
The meeting included a round table discussion with the participation of specialists from various fields:
David Bassa, journalist and director of the Documentary Department of Television de Catalonia (3Cat).
David Bueno, professor, researcher and founder of the Chair of Neuroeducation at the UB.
Joan Colom, Deputy Director General of Addictions of the Department of Health of the Generalitat de Catalonia.
Marina Fernández, associate professor at Abat Oliba University and spokesperson for the “Adolescència lliure de mòbils” movement.
Marc Masip, member of the Board of Directors of the Digital Transformation Advisory Council of the Community of Madrid and Private Schools of Catalonia.
During the discussion, key issues such as the impact of social networks on mental health, overexposure to screens and the role of education in managing digital use were addressed.
Jo, Pantalla Awards
As part of the event, the awards ceremony of the “Jo, pantalla” contest was held, aimed at the UB student community. The contest rewarded creativity in the production of micro-films on the relationship between human beings and digital screens, with a special focus on social networks, streaming platforms and other digital media.
