Visit of Professor Samuel Moyn (Yale)

Between May 21 and 28, 2025, the Faculty of Law at the University of Barcelona will host a visit from Professor Samuel Moyn, “Chancellor Kent” Professor of Law and History at Yale University. Moyn is a renowned historian of human rights, known for his innovative and pioneering work that challenges deeply entrenched assumptions. In his latest book, Liberalism against Itself: Cold War Intellectuals and the Making of Our Times, he examines the transformations in liberal political thought during the Cold War. This is the program of activities during his stay:

  1. Seminar “Dignity and Human Rights”, May 21 & 23, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    Location: Room A218.
    For Master’s and PhD students.

  2. Research Seminar “The Secret History of Constitutional Dignity”, May 26, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    Location: Maria Soteras Meeting Room A411.
    Especially intended for members of the Department of Political Science, Constitutional Law and Philosophy of Law, but open to all interested faculty.

  3. Lecture “Liberalism Against Itself”, May 27, 2025, from 12 to 2 p.m.
    Location: Aula Magna.
    Open to the entire academic community.
