The Buddy Programme aims to promote the interaction between local Faculty students and international students who are on exchange at our centre. The programme is an initiative of the International Relations Office of the Faculty of Economics and Business, offered to our students for the first time in the academic year 2010/2011. From the academic year 13/14 on students can obtain 1-2 ECTS with their participation in the programme.

For local Faculty students, the programme allows them to get in contact with the internationalization process our centre is experiencing, even if they do not go on exchange themselves. Thanks to it students can get closer to and experience cultural diversity while helping and meeting students from other cultural and linguistic environments; and thus, broadening their personal background and enriching their university experience. The programme can also act as an incentive for the participation of local students in the UB International Mobility Programmes.

For international exchange students, the programme enriches their experience during their stay in our centre, and it also allows them to know the diversity of our city and institution. It also improves their social and cultural immersion and the development of friendships that may go beyond their stay in our Faculty, as we hope will also be the case for local students.

With this program we aim to promote a process of internationalization at home, bringing together local and international students in order to encourage contact and interaction between both groups. Local buddies local -Faculty students- can guide and advise international students on academic and university related issues during their stay at our faculty (using the library resources, contacting the lecturers and professors, giving help and advice on courses, etc.) and other cultural and daily life issues related with living abroad (for instance, cultural and linguistic immersion).

If you are a student of our Faculty interested in participating in the Buddy programme, please, check the specific information in the Catalan and Spanish versions of this website or contact the International Relations Office directly.

If you are a student who will undertake an international academic stay at our institution, you will be able to contact several students of the Faculty who have decided to be the “buddies”. There is also a Facebook fan page where you can express your concerns, and the “buddies” will take care of that.

Local buddies will guide you through all the academics matters, as well as some other everyday life and cultural aspects and issues related to the city and the country.
Buddies will also be present during the welcoming activities, so you will be able to meet them and start interacting with them then.

It is only up to you to build a relationship with your buddies. You will have the possibility to ask about all the issues that you are interested in via email or through the Facebook fan page of the Office and we can arrange the meetings for you.

We hope that thanks to this programme you will be able to learn and interact with the local students of our university and make the most of this international experience that you have decided to incorporate into your personal background.
