proposals for presentations at EuroSLA 30 to be held in Barcelona, Spain, July 1-4, 2020. We welcome submissions in all areas of second, foreign, and additional languages research.<\/p><p><strong>Academic program<\/strong><\/p><p>The academic program will include presentations by the participants as well as four invited keynote speakers:<\/p><p>Nick Ellis (University of Michigan, USA)<br \/>Judit Kormos (Lancaster University, UK)<br \/>Rosa Manch\u00f3n (Universidad de Murcia, Spain)<br \/>Kazuya Saito (University College London, UK)<\/p><p>The conference will also offer a doctoral student workshop and a Language Learning Roundtable<\/p><p><strong>Types of presentations<\/strong><\/p><p>1) <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Individual papers<\/span>: length of presentation: 20 mins followed by 5 mins for Q&amp;A.<br \/>2) <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Colloquia<\/span>: a maximum of three colloquia will be accepted. Each colloquium may contain three or five thematically related papers (the colloquium is therefore either 90 or 150 minutes long, depending on the number of papers). The colloquium convener must submit a colloquium abstract that should describe the topic of the colloquium.<br \/>This will be used by reviewers to assess the range and coherence of the papers. Individual presenters submit individual papers but mark them as part of a named colloquium. Please note it is a requirement for a colloquium to be accepted that all included papers are accepted. If the colloquium is rejected, individual papers may still be accepted as papers in parallel sessions. Please also note that there is no time assigned for a discussant.<br \/>3) <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Posters:\u00a0<\/span>A0, portrait.<br \/>4) <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Papers at the doctoral student workshop<\/span>. Length of presentation: 15 minutes of talk by the doctoral student followed by 15 minutes for discussion. The doctoral student workshop aims at fostering discussions of ongoing PhD research, as well as at obtaining feedback from senior researchers and other doctoral students. These workshops provide an opportunity for PhD students to present and discuss their work (15 minutes) and explore future directions (15 minutes). Doctoral students whose abstracts are accepted are required to send their abstract and presentation, and these will be then sent to the discussant. The discussant will lead a 15 minute feedback\/discussion session of the PhD work.<\/p><p>For the first time this year, all papers accepted for doctoral workshops will be eligible for the Linguistic Approaches to Bilingualism award for best doctoral project (more detailed information to come soon). Evaluation criteria include: quality of the content, clarity of the abstract, the contribution to the field, and thematic relevance. For colloquia, two additional assessment criteria are the range and the coherence of the papers.<br \/>Doctoral students submitting abstracts for doctoral workshops must include a limited number of specific questions for the discussants. Notification of acceptance is to be communicated by the end of March 2020.<\/p><p><strong>Length of abstracts<\/strong><br \/>Individual paper, paper at the doctoral student workshop, or poster: max. 600 words including references Colloquium, general abstract: a maximum of 400 words including references.<\/p><p><strong>Language policy<\/strong><br \/>The working language of the conference is English but presentations are also welcome in other European languages.<\/p><p><strong>Presenter policy<\/strong><br \/>Each participant can appear as the first author on one presentation only. A colloquium convener can also present at the colloquium or elsewhere in the program.<\/p><p><strong>Student stipends<\/strong><br \/>As in previous years, several student stipends will be available for doctoral students. The recipient of the Junior Researcher LAB award receives 300 Euros. The award is presented to junior researchers carrying out original projects in the areas of bilingualism, second language research and multilingualism. Irrespective of the stage of the PhD project, we honour a project that addresses new and ambitious research questions, tackles methodological challenges and makes novel contributions to the field. In order to be eligible for the award, applicants must provide the following:<\/p><p>&#8211; A letter that details the aims, scope and relevance of the project as well as their motivation for carrying out the project, describes the current state of the dissertation project and identifies open questions. This letter should not exceed 2 A4 pages.<\/p><p>&#8211; A pdf of the slide presentation for the doctoral workshop<\/p><p>&#8211; A statement that the presentation is the original work of the applicant. If the presentation is co-authored, the applicant should explain each<br \/>individual\u2019s contribution.<\/p><p>&#8211; Proof that the applicant is an MA or PhD student or equivalent. Submissions need to be sent by e-mail to the editorial assistant of LAB (editorial@labjournal.org) no later than two weeks before the doctoral workshop at EUROSLA.<\/p><p>The evaluation criteria are:<\/p><p>&#8211; Relevance of the contribution to the fields of bilingualism, SLA or multilingualism;<br \/>&#8211; Significance and originality of the topic addressed;<br \/>&#8211; Strength and originality of research design;<br \/>&#8211; Potential impact of research on practice, theory or future research.<\/p><p>Evaluations will be made exclusively on the basis of the documents submitted by an ad-hoc committee formed by the editors of LAB, and the award will be presented at the General Assembly of EUROSLA.
