VERE was a European Commission FP7/FET Integrated Project (Grant Agreement 257695) investigating how people can experience body ownership, agency and presence in a surrogate body — a virtual avatar and a remote robotic body.
About
VERE explored the conditions under which humans “internalise” a surrogate body, across virtual and robotic platforms.
The project combined multisensory integration, sensorimotor contingencies, telepresence and interaction design,
with a strong emphasis on scientific validation and responsible use.
