In-Person & Online
We understand that study abroad is not always possible for an extended period of time, and are prepared to offer both fully online and hybrid versions of our courses. Our staff and faculty are highly experienced in the specifics of online learning.
We take pride in adjusting to the needs of our students and partner organizations, without compromising academic quality. We place a strong emphasis on student engagement, communication, and a successful balance between individual work and cohort-based learning, through small groups and high touch.
In-Person
Hybrid-style learning is ideal for those who want to study abroad but cannot do so for extended periods of time. By engaging in hybrid learning, students will begin their studies with us online, in order to receive an introduction and contextualization of the subject matter and course contents.
The online phase is followed by an on-site period, in which we strive to include as much field work as possible, so that students can get the full abroad experience in its true local context. The field studies are complemented by classroom time in a local university, which is in itself an enriching cultural experience.
Finally, after students depart, we complete with a concluding follow up online portion of the course. We find that this final portion is extremely useful to students, because a very important part of study abroad is reinsertion to the home culture, which gives them the capacity and opportunity to reflect on the experience in a truly comparative way.
Online
If you are unable to study abroad, there are still plenty of reasons to sign up for our program. We are one of the few Food Studies programs at the university level in all of Europe. Our content is up to date; our faculty is passionate about their subject matter and their profession. We are teachers above all, who believe in the value of education, in person or remotely. Whether you are in another continent or here in Europe, we offer the possibility of learning about Food Studies in/and the Mediterranean culture. Traveling to the destination of our subject matter is certainly wonderful, but even if you can’t make it, our expert faculty are able to facilitate a deep learning experience that will make you rethink food in context, in your home country and in the world. The range of courses we offer makes us a unique program; food applies to such a broad spectrum of contemporary culture that it allows for students coming from many different academic fields to find value in our courses and subject matter. We strongly believe in the positive effects of experiential learning. We are enthusiastic about combining in-person, hybrid, and online learning to suit your needs.
