He has lived and worked in seven countries and some of his key assignments include: Marketing Vice President for Spain, Director of Global Marketing and Innovation based in London, Regional Marketing Director and Distributors\u2019 Sales Manager for Scandinavia, Marketing Manager in Italy.<\/p><p>In Barcelona he founded a small consulting firm where he has carried out work in a wide variety of fields. Because of his strong interest in food, he has consulted with an important South American agro-food conglomerate, producer of fresh, frozen and preserved products. Professor Alegr\u00eda has also consulted with smaller food businesses in product and hospitality. Since 2015 he has been teaching Study Abroad in Barcelona. He obtained his B.A. in Business Administration at University of Lima and holds an MBA from McGill University.<\/p><\/div><div id=\"jet-tabs-content-2102\" class=\"jet-tabs__content \" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-hidden=\"true\" data-template-id=\"false\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1768 size-full alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ub.edu\/foodstudies\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Vera-Armus-150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"202\" \/>Professor Armus is an anthropologist and culinary tourism professional. She holds an undergraduate degree in Anthropology from Claremont McKenna College and a Masters degree in Gastronomic Tourism and Culinary Heritage Studies from the Universitat de Barcelona.<\/p><p>Born to Argentine parents in New York City, Vera&#8217;s multicultural upbringing sparked her curiosity for food culture. Her previous work includes exploring Argentine migratory experiences in Barcelona, and how identity is impacted upon migration; and comparing Barcelona and NYC&#8217;s street food scenes, with a focus on migrant-driven cuisine in each context. Ms. Armus&#8217; articles have appeared in media such as Eater, Gastro Obscura, and Los Angeles Magazine. She also works as a gastronomic tour guide, helping visitors discover Barcelona\u2019s local culinary landscape.<\/p><\/div><div id=\"jet-tabs-content-2103\" class=\"jet-tabs__content \" data-tab=\"3\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-hidden=\"true\" data-template-id=\"false\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1596\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ub.edu\/foodstudies\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/RosaLamuelaPhD.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"193\" \/> Dr. Rosa Lamuela-Raventos is the Director of the Research Institute of Nutrition and Food Safety and Full Professor at the Department of Nutrition, Food Sciences and Gastronomy of the School of Pharmacy and Food Sciences at the University of Barcelona. She was named one of the most influential scientists in the world according to the Highly Cited Researchers list, from 2017-2020.<\/p><p>Dr. Lamuela-Raventos is an award-winning scientist, the main researcher of the group \u201cNatural Antioxidants: Polyphenols\u201d and leads one of CIBEROBN\u2019s research groups. Dr. Loew has been teaching American study abroad students in Barcelona for 15+ years, at many organizations including IES Abroad, CIEE, Accent- UCEAP, and others.<\/p><p>Dr. Loew has spent her life among three countries (Argentina, the US, and Spain); her multinational background gives her a broad perspective conducive to understand cultures and peoples, and work in international education. Dr. Loew introduced Food Studies as an academic subject to the world of study abroad in Barcelona. She is also the founder of Sobremesa Culinary Tours.<\/p><p>Dr. Loew is a certified nutrition consultant and trained chef, and travels regularly to northern California to teach at culinary schools around the SF Bay Area. Her main field of interest is the knowledge of culture through food, i.e. everything that surrounds the plate. He also co-leads a European-wide Erasmus+ project (Learn4Health) aimed at promoting better health among students through a set of evidence- based initiatives.<\/p><p>His research interests are in learning processes of children in and out of schools, and the design of learning and teaching environments. His most recent work has focused on the food-ways of children as a way to understand how children learn to eat in diverse settings and develop particular identities and affiliations with eating communities and\/or groups.<\/p><\/div><div id=\"jet-tabs-content-2106\" class=\"jet-tabs__content \" data-tab=\"6\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-hidden=\"true\" data-template-id=\"false\"><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1655 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ub.edu\/foodstudies\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/marina-diaz-150x193-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"193\" \/>Marina D\u00edaz Crist\u00f3bal studied political science at the University Complutense de Madrid and received her doctorate in history at Tufts University in the United States, where she formed part of a research group organized by the Prince of Asturias Chair in Spanish History. In Boston, she was also a member of the Iberian Study Group at the Center for European Studies at Harvard University. She later taught at King&#8217;s College London before joining IES abroad. Her doctoral thesis studied turn-of-century modernist thought in Spain and Europe.<\/p><p>As an intellectual historian, she has taught courses in Spanish history as well as civilization and culture. Over the past few years, she has developed a teaching interest in cultural and social history of Barcelona and Catalu\u00f1a. Over the last fifteen years she has taught a wide array of courses to study abroad students, from <em>Contemporary Spanish History<\/em> to <em>Barcelona, the Cosmo city.<\/em><\/p><\/div><div id=\"jet-tabs-content-2107\" class=\"jet-tabs__content \" data-tab=\"7\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-hidden=\"true\" data-template-id=\"false\"><p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2016 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ub.edu\/foodstudies\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Cristina-Pubill_150.png\" alt=\"Cristina Pubill Ulldemolins\" width=\"150\" height=\"184\" \/><\/strong>Dr. Pubill-Ulldemolins is a Lecturer in Organic Chemistry at the University of Barcelona and Visiting Lecturer of the University of Sussex. She has a worked at laboratories in Germany, the UK, Canada and Japan.
