Malgrat aix\u00f2, aquesta tecnologia encara no \u00e9s atractiva comercialment, ja que requereix l&#8217;\u00fas de costosos imants permanents i molts dels materials magn\u00e8tics considerats pateixen de fatiga mec\u00e0nica quan s\u00f3n sotmesos a cicles refrigerants.<\/p>\n<p>Aquest projecte focalitza en una nova via per reduir dr\u00e0sticament els costos i millorar la vida \u00fatil del refrigerant:<strong> La utilitzaci\u00f3 de materials magn\u00e8tics que mostren simult\u00e0niament efectes cal\u00f2rics generats tant per camps magn\u00e8tics com tensions mec\u00e0niques, \u00e9s a dir, <em>efectes multical\u00f2rics<\/em><\/strong>. C\u00e0lculs de DFT restringits magn\u00e8ticament a diferents orientacions magn\u00e8tiques a escala at\u00f2mica s\u00f3n fets servir per descriure excitacions t\u00e8rmiques. El sistema magn\u00e8tic est\u00e0 totalment ordenat en el zero absolut (a), mentre que es desordena a mesura que la temperatura augmenta (b,c).<br \/>\n[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.21.0&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.20.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_text module_class=&#8221;lletra_gran&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.21.0&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p class=\"fletxa_anterior\" style=\"text-align: left;\">La teoria funcional de la densitat (density functional theory, DFT) \u00e9s actualment una de les eines principals per la modelitzaci\u00f3 de materials des de primers principis. Tanmateix, la versi\u00f3 est\u00e0ndard de DFT normalment no inclou efectes de temperatura i, per tant, troba dificultats a l&#8217;hora de descriure la termodin\u00e0mica dels efectes (multi-)cal\u00f2rics. <strong>En aquest projecte fem servir la teoria del moment local desordenat (DLM), un dels pocs marcs te\u00f2rics existents que expandeix DFT per modelar materials magn\u00e8tics a temperatura finita des de primers principis [1,2,3].<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"fletxa_anterior\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Les propietats magn\u00e8tiques d&#8217;un s\u00f2lid s\u00f3n dictaminades per les interaccions magn\u00e8tiques entre els \u00e0toms, les quals depenen de les seves posicions i dist\u00e0ncies donant lloc a forts acoblaments del magnetisme amb l&#8217;estructura cristal\u00b7lina\u00a0del material. Per aquesta ra\u00f3, les vibracions dels \u00e0toms causades per excitacions t\u00e8rmiques, \u00e9s a dir, els fonons, tamb\u00e9 poden afectar el magnetisme i a conseq\u00fcents\u00a0efectes cal\u00f2rics. Tot i aix\u00f2, la versi\u00f3 actual de la nostra eina computacional no incorpora aquesta interacci\u00f3. <strong>Un objectiu principal del projecte MULTICALORICS \u00e9s el desenvolupament d&#8217;un nou m\u00e8tode per calcular l&#8217;efecte dels phonons en el magnetisme i refredament cal\u00f2ric.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"fletxa_anterior\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Investigacions pr\u00e8vies a aquest projecte han demostrat un potencial acoblament dels phonons amb el magnetisme en els materials Mn3AN, on &#8220;A&#8221; pot ser una combinaci\u00f3 de metalls de transici\u00f3 i elements semiconductors. Mn3AN \u00e9s una famosa classe de materials magn\u00e8tics gr\u00e0cies als seus efectes cal\u00f2rics gegantins\u00a0i a la seva possible manipulaci\u00f3 mitjan\u00e7ant dopatge qu\u00edmic [4,5]. <strong>En el projecte MULTICALORICS tenim l&#8217;ambici\u00f3 de predir les millors condicions multical\u00f2riques en aquests materials per a la seva posterior an\u00e0lisi experimental en el grup de materials funcionals i transicions de fase de la UB.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[1] B.
