{"id":5971,"date":"2025-10-06T16:53:52","date_gmt":"2025-10-06T15:53:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ub.edu\/ger\/?p=5971"},"modified":"2025-10-09T15:46:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-09T14:46:10","slug":"plenary-conference-at-the-xvii-asaee-international-congress-of-anthropology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ub.edu\/ger\/en\/plenary-conference-at-the-xvii-asaee-international-congress-of-anthropology\/","title":{"rendered":"Plenary Conference at the XVII ASAEE International Congress of Anthropology"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>Plenary Conference at the XVII ASAEE International Congress of Anthropology<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The <span style=\"color: #fa7202;\"><a style=\"color: #fa7202;\" href=\"https:\/\/asaee-antropologia.org\/congresos\/xvii-congreso-antropologia-2025\/plenarias\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">XVII ASAEE Anthropology Congress<\/a><\/span> was held from September 2 to 5, 2025, in San Crist\u00f3bal de La Laguna, Canary Islands, under the theme &#8220;Antropolog\u00edas comprometidas\u201d (Engaged Anthropologies) This edition was conceived as a space for reflection and action in the face of contemporary challenges \u2014 climate, social, political, and economic crises \u2014 advocating a critical and transformative anthropology that places people, communities, and territories at the center.<\/p>\n<p>The opening plenary conference was given by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ub.edu\/ger\/en\/members\/\"><span style=\"color: #fa7202;\">Susana Narotzky<\/span>,<\/a> Professor of Social Anthropology at the University of Barcelona and director of the Reciprocity Study Group (GER).<\/p>\n<p>Under the title <strong>Future Projects and Imagined Futures. Spaces of Social Continuity in Dispute: An Ethnographic Case<\/strong>, Susana Narotzky discussed the articulation between political economy and moral economy in the production of space.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5957\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ub.edu\/ger\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG-20250902-WA0006-B.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"618\" height=\"394\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve posted the full video of the opening plenary lecture below.
