Bologna Conference: Transforming Mental Health Through Lived Experience

As part of the Bologna Conference “Transforming Mental Health Through Lived Experience,” held on May 7 and 8, 2026, in Bologna, Italy, the presentation “Rethinking mental health practices and recovery pathways through citizenship in the Catalan mental health context” was given by Diana Gonzalez-Mañas and Francisco José Eiroa-Orosa sharing insights on how citizenship-based frameworks can reshape mental health practices and recovery trajectories within the local context.

The conference, organised as part of the Joint Action MENTOR and co-funded by the European Union, focused on the central role of lived experience in creating recovery-oriented services and integrating peer practitioners into policy and community. It featured international experts discussing the implementation of experiential knowledge at all levels of mental health services and the advancement of survivor-led research.
