We participated in the webinar “Rights and Wrongs: Psychiatric disorders – support in the community and the myth of chemical cure”, organised by SMES-Europa as part of its ongoing series of online seminars.
The event provided a space for reflection and dialogue between, on the one hand, the view of mental health experiences as biological anomalies requiring pharmacological treatment and community support, sometimes including coercive practices; and, on the other hand, critical perspectives that question the myth of chemical cure and instead emphasise the person’s social context, citizenship, rights, relationships and community resources.
