DESCRIPTION:This talk is about the lessons of the study of arguments in dis
 course for a theory of context. I provide three different considerations f
 or thinking that the semantics of arguments requires we model contexts as 
 having a distinctive tree-like structure\; I explore the parallels between
  the resulting conception of context and SDRT's conception of context\; an
 d I extend the semantics of arguments in Kocurek and Pavese 2022 to subjec
 tive arguments.
