Cambridge Digital Library
The archive currently contains the first instalment of historic photographs
of people, equipment and events, mostly up to about 1970. The core of the
present collection is a sequence of over 1800 glass plates and film
negatives compiled in the 1970s by the then Laboratory photographer Keith
Papworth. The current archive selects a sample of images of historical
importance from the Papworth catalogue, including all the images in the
Cavendish Snapshot Albums from about 1927 to 1937. This list is
supplemented with many black and white and coloured images up to about the
mid-1970s. This first release includes 202 images, 163 black and white and
39 in colour. The collection will be expanded to provide as comprehensive a
photo archive of the history of the Laboratory as is feasible.
