Cultivating farming systems that support multiple soil-based ecosystem services: A social-ecological systems perspective

Personal investigador/académico

The management of farming systems strongly influences the magnitude and variety of ecosystem services that soils provide, in concert with inherent edaphic properties. Socio-economic and policy factors, in turn, influence farmers' management decisions. In this talk, I will share interdisciplinary research from California focused on understanding which aspects of farming systems management vs edaphic properties most influence soil microbial communities and soil-based ecosystem services, alongside the external conditions that enable or disable farmers from using management that supports soils.
