Econometrician, risk management analyst and leading actuarial statistician Montserrat Guillen Estany from the Department of Applied Economics, Statistics and Econometrics has received the National Research Prize from the Spanish government. The prize was awarded to Prof. Guillen because
“she is a pioneering figure and international reference in the economics of risk and actuarial sciences, with an academic trajectory of great impact, and her research is transforming profoundly risk analysis and the economics of insurance in the 21st century, by integrating quantitative methods with Big Data and artificial intelligence, bringing them to fields of special interest such as longevity, driving, financial contagion and, more recently, climate change.” (The Award committee)
The National Research Prize is awarded to researchers with an exceptional career, whose research attained international relevance in their respective fields. It is a great honor for IREA-UB to have a researcher of such high level among its faculty.
