On January 26th some students from “Institut Josefina Castellví” in Viladecans visited us to attend a research workshop regarding the discovery of drugs, in the frame of the outreach activities related to our project PID2020-118127RB-I00 (from Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación and Agencia Estatal de Investigación (MCIN/ AEI /10.13039/501100011033).
After a brief talk from Prof. Diego Muñoz-Torrero and Noemí Martínez regarding the drug discovery process and how to work in a chemistry laboratory, the students participated in a research workshop that took place in one of the laboratories from the Unit of Teaching Laboratories (ULD) of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences of the University of Barcelona.
Some members from Prof. Diego Muñoz-Torrero’s group (the postdoctoral researcher Dr. Ana Mallo-Abreu and the PhD students Anna Sampietro, Javier Sánchez and Noemí Martínez) organized five different activities where the students could carry out some common tasks in a chemistry laboratory.
We hope they had a great time in the laboratory and enjoyed science as much as we do!
