MCP Group Showcases Interactive Drug Discovery Workshop at the XII Festa de la Ciència, UB

On May 15, 2026, the Historic Building of the University of Barcelona became a vibrant meeting point between science and society during the XI Festa de la Ciència. The event brought together researchers, students, and members of the public in an open and dynamic environment designed to make scientific research more accessible, interactive, and inspiring for audiences of all ages.

As part of the program, the Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacology (MCP) group organized an engaging workshop focused on the drug discovery and development process. Through hands-on activities and interactive demonstrations, participants were introduced to the different stages involved in transforming a scientific idea into a potential therapeutic treatment, from target identification to lead optimization.

The workshop offered attendees a unique opportunity to gain insight into the multidisciplinary nature of biomedical research and to better understand the essential role of medicinal chemistry and pharmacology in the development of innovative medicines. By presenting complex scientific concepts in an approachable and practical way, the activity encouraged curiosity, participation, and dialogue between researchers and the community.

Events such as the XII Festa de la Ciència reflect the University of Barcelona’s ongoing commitment to scientific outreach and public engagement, highlighting the importance of research and education in addressing current and future societal challenges.
