During this month we have organized two activities for high school students. This edition welcomed 90 students for an educational day combining theory and practice in the field of pharmaceutical research.
The event was structured into three 45-minute seminars:
- Seminar 1: Introduction to the world of drugs and drug discovery, presented by Dr. Diego Muñoz-Torrero and Javier Sánchez Sánchez-Corral.
- Seminar 2: Recent advances in drug development for neurodegenerative diseases and neuropathic pain, delivered by Alba López and Celia Escriche.
- Seminar 3: Practical preparation of a drug candidate, conducted by Anna Sampietro and Marc Granje.
The day concluded with a guided tour of the Faculty’s Pharmaceutical Chemistry Laboratory, where students had the opportunity to observe researchers’ work firsthand and learn about techniques used in the synthesis and analysis of new compounds.
This initiative is part of the University of Barcelona’s commitment to bringing science closer to young people and inspiring future careers in biomedical research. The “Drug Discovery” activity is offered free of charge and is open to schools interested in providing their students with a unique educational experience in the field of pharmacy and scientific research.
