Presented on the past April 24th, 2025 at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences of the University of Barcelona, this new national infrastructure was created with the goal of showcasing chemical compounds developed at universities and public research centers, making them available for biological testing to uncover new and valuable functionalities. Its mission is clear: to accelerate the transfer of scientific knowledge toward concrete biomedical applications, within the framework of open and collaborative science.
During the event, Dr. Carmen Escolano and Dr. Santiago Vázquez joined with other professionals to highlight the project’s strategic value. This key initiative is being driven within the framework of the Complementary Plan for Biotechnology Applied to Health (PCBAS) and the ES-OPENSCREEN Strategic Network. It brings together the participation of several Spanish autonomous communities and collaborates closely with the European project EU-OPENSCREEN IMPULSE, along with other Spanish and European initiatives.
Researchers are encouraged to take part in this pioneering initiative. By contributing their compounds, they have the opportunity to drive scientific discovery and help uncover new therapeutic solutions.
