XX National Meeting of the Spanish Society of Medicinal Chemistry

Some members of our group assisted the XX National Meeting of the Spanish Society of Medicinal Chemistry “From early discovery to translational medicinal chemistry”, which took place in Santiago de Compostela from the 19th to the 22nd of June 2022.

We contributed to the congress presenting 11 posters from Prof. Carmen Escolano, Dr. Carla Barbaraci, Dr. Elsa Martínez, Dr. Eugènia Pujol, Dr. Andreea L. Turcu, and the PhD students Andrea Bagán, Beatrice Jora, Noemí Martínez, Pau Nadal, Marina Pedrola and Anna Sampietro.

Prof. Santiago Vázquez presented a keynote entitled “Design, synthesis, and pharmacological evaluation of soluble epoxide hydrolase inhibitors for peripheral and central inflammatory diseases”.

Dr. Sandra Codony presented an oral communication entitled “Synthesis, in vitro profiling, and in vivo evaluation of soluble epoxide hydrolase inhibitors for pain”, and she received the Lilly Award.

Moreover, Dr. Andreea L. Turcu presented a flash communication entitled “Design, synthesis and in vitro and in vivo characterization of new memantine analogues for Alzheimer’s disease”, and she received the Enantia Award and also the best flash communication prize.

Noemí Martínez also presented a flash communication entitled “New catechol derivatives with ß-amyloid antiaggregating effect as potential anti-Alzheimer agents”.

Prof. Carmen Escolano, Prof. Rodolfo Lavilla and Prof. Diego Muñoz-Torrero also participated as chairmen in some sessions.

It was a congress with a very interesting program where we had the opportunity to attend several conferences and meet many senior and young researchers in the field of Medicinal Chemistry. Thus, we would like to thank the Organising Committee, especially Prof. Eddy Sotelo (USC), for such a positive experience.
