Eva Prats (IDAEA-CSIC)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9844eab e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"9844eab\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7852587 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7852587\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Project:<\/strong><\/p><p>This proposal aims to identify and characterise 5 NPS (psychostimulants and psychedelics) that pose a high risk to health and for which there is not enough information available.<\/p><p><strong>To achieve this goal:<\/strong><\/p><p>-A list of newly emerging NPS will be created.<\/p><p>-Among them, the PREDICT-NPS software will identify those NPS with the highest cardiotoxic, abuse and\/or psychedelic potential, from which 5 will be selected according to scientific-technical criteria.<\/p><p>-After their synthesis.<\/p><p>-The mechanism of action will be characterised and.<\/p><p>-The psychostimulant, hallucinogenic and reward properties will be studied in male and female mice.<\/p><p>-An alternative method, zebrafish larvae, will be used to study cardiotoxicity.<\/p><p>Finally, scientific reports will be generated with data on their cardiotoxic, psychedelic and\/or addictive potential, useful information for their analytical detection, as well as recommendations regarding their health risks. These reports will be immediately transferred to the Spanish.<\/p><p>Early Warning System and the National Plan on Drugs (PNsD), as well as to international organisations, such as the European Monitoring.<\/p><p>Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA), involved in drug alerts and monitoring, which can use this information to promote specific drug policies.
